Hi Everyone!

Since Crescent just held its annual convention last weekend, I'm keeping this update short.  I'm sure that will appeal to all!

CONVENTIONS

Once again, the Spring Convention was a great success!  Michelle Shuford, Bryan Bobo, Jim Bennett, and all the various volunteers (too many to name) put together a great event!!  The trade show and meetings were well-attended, Beach Olympics were enjoyed by many, and the Mardi Gras Party was certainly fun.  Faith Campbell and her crew of volunteers built two floats for the "parade", yours truly, Max Dangerfield (Columbia) with his trombone, and jazz musicians led, and many CSC members, in an incredible array of costumes, marched!  It was a spectacle!!!  Thanks to all who participated last weekend in the various venues;  without you, CSC couldn't be the successful organization that it is.

Competition winners included:
Scrapbook - Augusta (defending title)
Web Site - Greensboro
Beach Olympics - Greater Charleston

The Fall Conference will be October 29 - 31, 2010, at Gatlinburg, TN.  The Knoxville Ski Club is working with Michelle to organize the weekend.  Mark your calendars now and plan to attend;  registration information already has been issued by Michelle.  The conference is a great opportunity to learn more about the workings of the council and to gain and share knowledge about operating your clubs.  It's also just a fun weekend for those who don't have to attend the various Saturday meetings.  Gatlinburg offers a tremendous amount of shopping and the fall foliage should be fabulous.  The Saturday night party, while not quite as elaborate as the one at the Spring Convention, includes food and a DJ.  We always have a good time!

TRIPS

Crescent's 2011 Ski Week trips were rolled out at the Spring Convention.  They are to Taos, NM (January) and Ogden, Utah (March).  Information for the trips has been provided to all club trip directors and will be posted on Crescent's web site shortly.  If your trip leaders have questions about the trips, have them contact Lisa Beregi, DRLAB88@aol.com, or Sara (Ford) Clemons, sara@sportsamerica.com.   Crescent's Race and Ski Camp will be held at Steamboat from December 4 - 11, 2010.  Maximum participation is 350 members due to lodging and event facility capacities.  As usual, John Casey is our excellent trip leader.  Details of the trip should be available within a month.

The Trips Committee also voted for the short list of trip destinations for 2012.  Only a January trip will be held that year.  Since not all of the clubs were represented at the meeting, I believe Lisa will be sending voting requests out shortly.  Be sure to respond;  if you don't participate in the selection, you can't complain about the choice!

RACING

Racing Committee members are busy recruiting sponsors and finalizing next year's schedule.

MEMBER SERVICES

ExComm does most of its communications to the clubs via email so it's critical that clubs provide updates to Bruce McMurray, snowdawgasoc@bellsouth.net, whenever an officer or chair changes.  If you are no longer your club's rep or president, please forward this email to the appropriate individuals and make sure that Bruce is sent current information.

NSCF PROMOTIONS (PLEASE CHECK THESE OUT!)

  1. NSCF has entered into an agreement with the Ski Channel that may be a good promotional tool for clubs;  See the website home page for the document.  This was discussed briefly at the BOD meeting.
  2. Travel Guard has improved its coverage;  see the website home page for the document.

ADMINISTRATIVE

Crescent officers were elected at the Spring Convention BOD meeting: Margaret Crum (President), Pat Harvey (VP), Rod Davis (Treasurer), and Ruth Pollow (Secretary).  My personal thanks to all of them for volunteering;  I know they will go a great job.  The BOD also approved the four returning committee chairs.

Please distribute these updates to your members, via email or by placing them on your web site.  Several members have told me that they have learned about Crescent activities through these updates and that they think they are valuable.  Let's keep our members informed! My term doesn't end until May 31st so you can expect one more update from me before I move to CSC Past President.
